Are Sweden is one of Scandinavia’s best mountain resorts. Are (pronounced aura) is a ski, snowboard and mountain bike resort located around 220 miles south of the Arctic Circle. The latitude of Åre ski resort is ideal for long and snow sure winter seasons. The ski season lasts from late November right through to early May.

During the winter months Are Sweden is one of the largest resorts in Scandinavia covering a total of 1080 acres across 4 adjacent skiing areas. The 4 ski areas are made up from Duved, Tegefjäll, Central Åre, Åre Björnen. The areas are linked by a regular ski bus service that is completely free for lift pass holders.

Are Sweden ski resort is made up from 114 runs serviced by 42 lifts. All age ranges and abilities are catered for in Åre with good quality facilities and a variety of terrain. The steeper, more challenging of the ski runs are located around central Åre while some great beginner areas are located in Duved and ÅreBjörnen. Intermediate terrain for skiiers and snowboarders can be found in all 4 areas.

For visitors to Are Sweden during the winter season who are not looking to ski or snowboard there are plenty of other activities on offer. Snow mobile riding and Kite boarding are some of the great adrenaline fuelled activities available on the frozen lake. There is also a spa at the Holiday Club located at Åre station as well as some great shopping opportunities in both Åre and Ostersund. If it is sightseeing that you are after be sure not to miss one of the trips to the frozen waterfall nearby.

During the summer months Åre Sweden transforms into a downhill mountain bike resort. The downhill biking opportunities here are world class with well established trails and lift systems.
